I got the chance to illustrate the album cover of Red Ginger by Darel Parta. The whole process took 3 weeks to finish with 3 times of revision. I can tell the process is very enjoyable! Start by discussing the sketches options that I made while listening to the song.
The concept itself is influenced by the Japan City Pop music but still emphasizing the abstract strokes to make it more unique. I create image boards and multiple sketches to bring the perspective in the same boat, then correcting the chosen one.
The next process is to coloring the chosen sketches, I'm using dominant-orange color represents the song warm ambients, following with the neutral and mild color to combine the chill situation. Last steps, I draw shadow over the objects, give the ink lining for illustration, and clean the mess of the illustration.
Here’s the final illustration complete with his amazing music. Enjoy!
